What Causes Swelling And Tingling Sensation In The Hands?

My hands swell, get hot, tingle after squeezing something such as a drill or squirt bottle for a short time/minutes. The swelling lasts for over a day. What could be the cause of this? If I go to the doctor when there are symptoms will they be able to help me?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The Cause for hand swelling needs to be ruled out. If you are in post phase of swelling, then further help can be guided.

The causes of the hand swelling can be hypothyroidism, compressive neuropathy, carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, traumatic injury etcetera.

So, a physical examination is needed for your case. Further investigations like ESR, x-ray (local part), and serum TSH estimation etcetera can also be planned.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami
