What Causes Swelling And Throbbing Pain In Foot?

Last evening I knocked down a soap/shampoo caddy with a square block of soap off the wall and it when it dropped it struck the right side of my left foot (the instep). It did not seem like a big deal last night. Today, I can definitely weight bear but it throbs slightly and is swollen a bit with a tiny bruise. I am icing it and have it wrapped and elevated. Do I need to be concerned that it could be fractured? Thanks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Der,
Symptoms mentioned by you are suggesting about possible soft tissue injury...leading to throbbing and mild swelling.
Continue icing ...start chymotrypsin tab in tds dose and take diclofenac paracetamol combination when needed.
It should resolve within 7 days.
U can use elastocrepe bandage also which wil be of great help.
If not resolved go for an orthopedic consultation.
Thanks
