What Causes Swelling And Severe Pain In Ankle Radiating Up The Leg?

I am 38 yr old female type 2 diabetic. Just added that for a little background. My question is, I have bad ligaments in my right ankle, it rolls a lot I have to wear an air brace, had mri, won t find out till Wednesday what the results are. I fell and felt my ankle crack. Now for the past few days the inside ankle joint hurts and radiates up the inside of my leg. What should I do, I have to walk quite a bit and I feel nauseated since it happen. My leg swells up, so does ankle. Help, thanks.

Hello,

The swelling with severe amount of pain in ankle radiating up to the leg may be part of underlying clotting disorder such as deep vein thrombosis most likely. It is usually evidenced by a Doppler ultrasound report of the abdomen and pelvis. However, if you can share your reports of MRI and other to me during follow up discussion chat box, I can guide you further precisely in this matter.
