Hello,

Swelling around the ankles are commonly due to water retention, obesity, venous insufficiency, varicose veins, obesity, RA, OA, sedentary lifestyle, venous ulcer, kidney or heart disease, etc. If obese you are suggested to maintain healthy weight, limit salt intake, maintain your blood glucose level at all cost. Cut on carbohydrate intake. Pigmentation around the ankle is commonly caused by Venous insufficiency called venous reflux disease or stasis dermatitis.

You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get required investigations done so that treatment can be started at the earliest. In the meantime, keep legs elevated on a stool when sitting or on a pillow when on bed. Avoid standing at one place for a long time. Wear compression stocking, it may give relieve.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
