What Causes Swelling And Pain In The Toes?

I ve had a gout attack on my big toe for over ten days. Took Colchicine, about 6 pills on two occasions. Better but still a little swollen and sore. I m a vegan who ate sardines--this triggered it! Will it go away by itself? Never eat sardines again.

Hi,

Of course, sardines may trigger it. You should avoid them and other foods that are rich in purines. You can use allopurinol to lower the purine levels in the body. Also, continue with colchicine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
