What Causes Swelling And Itching Sensation In The Ankles?

i m 55 year old homeless vet residing in vet home, continuous changes have been convincing me to perform a course of action i have been familiar in, but mentioning it has resulted in hospitalization, this is NOT the medical questioni need info on. the past week, i have been experiencing swelled ankles that reduce when i raise them, but then the skin cracks and itch immensely, i have tried moisterizers after showers to know success. although i am sure the conditions will pass, trying to sleep becomes difficult with mornings feeling as though i ve been up all evening, thanks for your time

Hi.
As per your case history you are having eczema on ankle.
My treatment advice is -
1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like fusiderm-b cream twice daily on it.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for 7-10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
