What Causes Swelling And Discomfort In The Lips And Tongue?

I have been having strange sensation like my lips, tongue, back of throats and inside cheeks are burned, swollen and rough feeling. There are no sores just a general sensation all around. I recently came back from traveling in Russia and the symptoms appeared after 1 day. Any ideas?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Your symptoms of burned, swollen and rough feeling inside the cheeks, throat, lips and tongue can be due to allergic reaction and can be due to any food or medication most probably..

Any new toothpaste, mouthwash or environmental pollutants can be a cause..

So my suggestion is to take anti histamines like benadryl and also gargle with 1:1 solution of milk of magnesia or benadryl..
Do warm saline gargles and suck ice pops..
Avoid spicy and hot foods..
In case if do not find any improvement you should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated.

Hope this helps..

Regards.
