Hi,

Definitely, it is a sign of reduced blood supply to the finger and it may cause even gangrene of the finger. Therefore, you are advised to see your doctor or go to ER, at the earliest. In the mean time you should use moist warm cloth compresses on the finger to aid in dilatation of vessels of finger and helping in restoring its blood supply. Use of OTC analgesic / anti-inflammatory like Tylenol or Advil may help in relieving pain, swelling and inflammation at the site of trauma.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
