Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain bruising and swelling of cheek after
novocaine shots occurs most commonly when there is pricking of the blood vessels while injecting and it causes spillage of blood in the soft tissues leading to bruising and
hematoma formation..
No, it is not a normal reaction and is due to some discrepancy that occurred during injection..
As there is just a little swelling and pain on opening the mouth too wide you need not to worry as it will resolve gradually..
As of now you should star doing alternate warm and cool compresses over the swelling..
Start taking anti inflammatory painkillers like
Ibuprofen and
Serratiopeptidase to reduce pain and swelling..
Take
soft diet and avoid excess mouth opening..
In case if it worsen or does not show signs of improvement consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.
