What Causes Sudden Vanishing Of Fetus During Pregnancy?

Hello, My wife was pregnant. Today the doctor told her the baby vanished. The only thing i could find on line about this was vanishing twin syndrome. We were not told before this that she had twins. So how can vanishing hapeen with only one fetus. Thank you.

Had you mentioned the period of gestation, it would have been much clearer.

Sometimes, the pregnancy has a typical variety wherein the gestational sac is present without embryo (baby) in it. This is called as Blighted ovum. Such pregnancies do not grow and terminate by themselves; if not, termination of pregnancy is indicated.

Your wife seems to have this type of pregnancy. You have no option than terminating the pregnancy.
