What Causes Sudden Swelling In The Lips And Itching All Over The Body?
Hi Dr.
2 days back my lips suddenly swelled and I had itchiness over some parts of my body including the throat late evening, about 3 hours later I took antihistamine and slept. In the morning, the swelling went down. 2 days later again late afternoon all of a sudden I get rashes all over my arms and body. Not sure what is triggering this sudden episodes, is this something serious which needs ER attention?

All the symptoms you have described suggest possibility of severe allergic reaction. Since your lips are swollen and your throats it could be a more severe form called angioedema. If you ever develop these kind of symptoms,rush in to a medical center because it can be life threatening due to airway blockage.
We have to find out what caused this allergy,it could be an insect bite or any food stuffs or drugs.
In case of allergic reaction you can use antihistamines and oral predinosolone to control rashes and itching. If you develop lip swelling or breathing problem you might require steroid injection or adrenaline shot in extreme cases.
