What Causes Sudden Rise In Heart Rate?

My daughters heart has started racing now two nights in a row. I took her pulse last night and it was 152. And she said it had slowed down from before I got there. It has happened climbing stairs and at rest. She has Lyme disease to. What could be happening?

Hello,

Lyme disease may cause heart problems called arrhythmias. The heart rate you have mentioned is too high for rest. She needs an electrocardiogram and perhaps even Holter study, if the electrocardiogram won't suffice. Basic tests like the thyroid stimulating hormone, hematocrit and electrolytes are essential as well.

I can't tell without data from further investigation the cause of her tachycardia. If or when you have more data I will be glad to comment on them.

Kind regards!
