What Causes Sudden Pain In Upper Left Abdomen?

My son has had left upper abdominal pain since yesterday afternoon. sharp pain increased with breathing? He went to an urgent care clinic today and the doctor did and EKG and xray which appeared to be ok. The docor didn t know what was causing it and told him that if the pain continued the next 2 days to go to the ER. ? any suggestions.

Understand your concern
Following are the cause of pain in left upper abdomen:
Pancreatitis, spleen pathology, gastritis and stomach ulcer, left kidney stone and pyelonephritis, colitis.
Consult the gastroenterologist and undergo following investigations:
Blood tests: CBC,LFT, KFT, amylase,ESR/CRP.
Urine microscopy and culture; p\
Plain abdominal X-ray, USG abdomen.
Treatment will depend on the cause problem:
Take antispasmodic like dicyclomine and tramadol for pain
Take ranitidine, proper rest.
