What Causes Sudden Pain In Upper Arms, Shoulders, Neck And Chest?

Hello, My upper arms, shoulders, neck and upper chest ache all of a sudden. Also, I have been suffering from acid reflux and gallbladder inflamation and my back has been hurting because of it. I just had some dental work done and may have been tense during drilling. I don t think these would be heart attack symptoms, I just may be paranoid. When should I be concerned?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Acid reflux/Gastritis always cause chest or epigastric pain that may radiate to arms, shoulders, back and neck.Acute gastritis post dental work(stress) is a normal response and can radiate to all the above mentioned parts. However, not only gastritis can give you these symptoms, gallbladder inflammation , heart problems can also do but the later is less likely since you never mentioned of having any cardiovascular risk factors.I will suggest you try to get a good rest, eat well, take an anti-secretory like omeprazole, an antacid like maalox, drink enough water and observe. If the pains are too intense, you may take a pain medication like paracetamol or celebid. If the problem persist after these, you see a Doctor for examination and some blood tests lke FBC, H pylori and liver function test.An abdominal ultrasound to evaluate the gallbladder may be useful too.
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
