What Causes Sudden Increases In BP?

I am a Heart patient. In 2009, I had a heart attack. I am now 53 years old. I had a blood clot blocking my LAD.at 99%. Prior to this event, my bp ran around 130 to14?/67 to 7? I was also under doctors care for super vatricular tacacardia. I am on several meds to include: Lisinopril 10mg x 2; metoprolo 25 mg x2; 81 asprin ; plavix 75mg 1 time daily.... my colestorol was not bad, however I now take slo niacin 500mg for high trigliserites and Lipotor (mg's unknown at this time) ---- I have been diagnosed with PDSD therefore am also taking Zoloft100mg one time daily and xanex 10 mg x 6 ( 2 morning , lunch bedtime).... I also have some fluid around my heart, but w/o taking meds. during CPR 7 paddles, my stirnum cracked and herniated disk between my should, which remain painful. For about six weeks my pain in my shoulders, back & chest have increased,as well as my BP. Prior to this pain, my BP ran normal of 112/60 HR 60-70..For three to four weeks my BP has increased to anywhere from 142/80 - 170/80... what would cause the sudden increase of BP. It was not a slow rise.

Hi,

Among patients with heart problems sometimes blood pressure raises occur. In this case blood pressure medication correction is needed. Sometimes the cause can be stress, weight gain, diet changes, but sometimes there is no obvious reason.
I would advise you t see your doctor to discuss your treatment

Hope I could help you

Wishing you good health
