Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my husband golfed today,. He is taking metformin, his sugar is usually around 90-95 He pulled over driving home said he felt like he was going to pass out. He got some orange juice, was able to drive home and now feels like he needs to vomit Could his sugar have gone too low?
There is a chance of hypoglycemia which means decreased blood sugar level which may be due to metformin along with physical activity like golfing.
I suggest you to arrange for a close monitoring of his blood sugar levels for 3 to 4 days and take metformin accordingly.
Avoid severe exercise which causes lowering of sugar level, and plan diet accordingly. If you have any trouble in future then please consult your nearest physician.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Manjunath J.V.
