General & Family Physician 's  Response
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There is a chance of hypoglycemia which means decreased blood sugar level which may be due to metformin along with physical activity like golfing.

I suggest you to arrange for a close monitoring of his blood sugar levels for 3 to 4 days and take metformin accordingly.

Avoid severe exercise which causes lowering of sugar level, and plan diet accordingly. If you have any trouble in future then please consult your nearest physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Manjunath J.V.
