What Causes Sudden Dizziness And Loss Of Balance In An Elderly Person?

I was laying down, head on a rolled towel , for twenty minutes. I got up and felt like the back of my head was asleep. I felt dizzy and very off balance. Now, two days later, I have a slight, occasional pain on back, right side of head. What could this mean? I am VERY healthy, exercise every day, eat healthy, take NO meds. I am on the Lean side. I do drink wine at dinner, most evenings. I am 64 years old.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello,

In the 66-year-old male, tingling and numbness can be caused by compression of an artery by cervical vertebrae or could be due to aortic valve calcification due to aging. Please consult GP for echo and spine screening.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Prasanna Lakshmi, Pediatrician
