What Causes Stuffed Nose Along With Raspy Throat And Excessive Phlegm?

Hello I am a 68 year old male over the past weeks I have not been feeling my best my Throat is constantly Feeling raspy I can no longer feel i can sing my usual Tenor range any more I Am regularly bringing up flem I am constantly feeling quite tired and my nose is feeling very stuffy this more acute during the night I am waking up regularly My previous health history 2 stokes in 2000 & 2001 treated for BP from 2001 onwards 2004 Asthma Diagnosed Semi Retired 2007 my GP has done a chest X-ray which has been inconclusive My BMI is43 Alan From Liverpool England

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Stuffy nose, feeling tired and throat feeling raspy suggest upper respiratory tract infection.
The symptoms could be due to viral infection or bacterial infection.
Viral infection is more likely since bacterial infection is accompanied by pain in throat.
Treatment at this stage required steam inhalation, saline gargles and anti-pyretic in case fever is also present.
Rest will help to alleviate tiredness.
An anti-histaminic can also be taken to relieve the stuffiness in nose.
If no relief is experienced after taking medication of couple of days, you may consult your physician for clinical assessment and management.
