What Causes Sticky Stool In A Child?

My 3 year old son is having problems with his bowel movements...every time he tries to use the potty to poop...the poop just sticks to his bottom and won t come out. I have tried a laxative per a pharmacist with no avail. His little bottom is so red and irritated and we go through this about 4 times a day. Any suggestions?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Sticky stools indicate indigestion and fat malabsorption. Consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated. As of now reduce the oily foods.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
