What causes sticky stool after colostomy?

I have a colostomy. And for a few weeks now, my stool has been very soft and sticky where it gets between the adhesive of the bag and my skin. This causes leaks and constant bag changes. Now my skin around my stoma is very raw, irritated and sore. What should I do?
