What Causes Spotting After Periods?

I had a scary near-faint spell upon waking in the middle of the night. I got up to pee and suddenly felt very strange. I had to lie down and just concentrate on breathing, was very alarming. Afterward went to bathroom several times (both 1 and 2). Also realized a lot of blood in pee but my period has been erratic and so figured it was just my period. I am still spotting. Please advise want to see a doctor just not sure who to see, a gyno or endo doc? Would like to avoid a referral and keep costs down by going directly to specialist. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Profuse vaginal bleeding following an erratic menstruation suggests it to be either an abortion (especially because it has reduced automatically), may be functional uterine bleeding or menopausal bleeding depending on your age. You should consult a gynecologist for expert advice after examining you physically.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
