What Causes Soreness In Ear And Trouble In Listening?

We went on holiday & returned 2 weeks ago, whilst there my 6 year old son complained his ear was sore but then it seemed o.k. after a couple of days. About a week ago there was quite a lot of wax running out of his ear over 2 days (this did not smell) which then cleared up. Today there is a little crusty ear wax in his ear h has said it is a little bit sore and he obviously has reduced hearing and is not hearing things which are reasonably loud, your advice would be appreciated

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms seem to be related to an infection of the outer ear canal.
I suggest using an anti inflammatory medications such as Tylenol in case of pain.
I also suggest using an antibiotic eardrop for local application.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
