Hi.. Can understand your concern.. As per your complain soreness of the back of roof of the mouth can be due to infection caused by bacteria( strep throat) or virus. In case you have cold along with sore throat then it can be probably due to viral infection. For relief you can do warm saline gargles.. Throat lozenges taken every 4 to 5 hours can be relieving.. In case of throat pain over the counter anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen can help Sipping on luke warm water for the whole day can help in maintaining hydration as well as help in relieving throat.. Drinking milk boiled with turmeric bed time for 5 days can help.. Avoid smoking and drinking or any other recreational drug if you take.. Avoid spicy and hard foods.. Take soft diet.. In case if you do not find relief get tested for the kind of infection that whether it is strep throat or viral infection and in case if strep throat is diagnosed along with all above treatments antibiotics should be included..
