What Causes Sore Throat And Red Rashy Bumps On Hands And Legs

Two days ago, my daughter complained of her toes itching.. I looked at her toes and there was a little red spots rashy but nothing major so I put some hydrocortisone cream on them and she said they were better... Yesterday the spots appeared on the palms of her hands, then last night she said her throat was a little sore...I thought either herpangina, which she has had before, or hand-foot-mouth.... This morning they are still the same and she has a little sore inside her throat on the right side and the little rashy bumps are now on her elbows and knees... I m still leaning toward hand-foot-mouth but not sure if I should take her to the MD. No fever at this time, just a little tired...

Hello and welcome to HCM
From your description, it does seem like a viral fever with rashes, most probably hand, foot and mouth disease. The spots may increase and then decrease over the next few days with fever and decrease in a week.
Was there any contact with other infected kids?
She will need rest and fluids and mainly symptomatic treatment.
Paracetamol in case she develops fever or pain. Throat gargles.
Apply calamine+menthol lotion 2-3 times a day on the rashes for soothing. Cortisone cream maybe applied if severe.
You can also use an antihistamine like fexofenadine at night if itching is severe
Antibiotics are generally not required.
In case she gets fever and is recurrent , or shows other signs of infection you may consult a doctor and start on a course of erythromycin(rule out allergy).
Keep a watch on the progress for the next 2-3 days and check improvement.
Hope this helps
