Hi My name is Teresa. I have had a sore swollen gland under my left jaw for about a year now. I first thought it was stress. When I yawn it hurts 100% of the time. Now I have a soft lump nearer my collar bone. My MD keep putting it off. let s see if it goes away . Should I be worried. I don t have any trouble swallowing but it feels like constant sinus drainage in the back of my throat on that side. thanks, Teresa
As per your complain it seems that you have multiple lymph node enlargements and lymph node enlargements are seen in case of chronic infections but at times it can be due to tumor of lymph nodes causing lymphoma formation.
As it is already one year and you are still having the lymph node enlargement continuously present, you should consult a General Physician or a General Surgeon and get evaluated and he can do an FNAC/Biopsy of lymph nodes and advise you accordingly. In case of infections antibiotics and anti inflammatory painkillers will help in resolution.
In case of lymphoma formation chemotherapy and radiotherapy can be advised. At times surgical removal of lymph nodes can be advised if conservative treatment does not work.
Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks and regards, Dr. Honey Nandwani Arora
