Hello,
The problem is that the infective bacteria that cause Rocky Mountain Spotted
fever (
Rickettsia) cause the cells to die (what is medically known as apoptosis).
This includes a wide range of cell types in the body including muscles (especially in ladies). This leads to a condition called
rhabdomyolysis sometimes.
Now that the antibiotic course is over and the infection is wiped clean off the body, these cells will be replaced slowly by the new cells. As one grows older the process of regeneration of cells becomes slower.
So overall it may take approximately 15 days - 30 days for you to recover from these symptoms completely as the cells regrow.
Taking care of your fluid and electrolyte balance and having a good, well balanced nourishing diet is the best way you can help yourself get out of these symptoms as soon as possible.
I would recommend testing CPK (one today and once after 3 days) to make sure that the process is not causing further damage, and is improving.
If the levels are improving, it would mean the things are getting better. I have tried to make it as simple as possible. Feel free to contact me for any further details.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
