What Causes Small Itchy Bumps On The Hand And Fingers?

I got bit on the back of my hand by something. It burned for most of the day, but was cool and clammy feeling for the 1st day and a half. Now it itches and is really warm to the touch on the 3rd day. There is also a small bump and my hand and fingers have restricted movement. Any suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Bites can be very uncomfortable but I suggest some treatments to relieve symptoms:
For pain relieve use paracetamol or ibuprofen, for itching hydrocortisone cream or ointment and antihistamine tablets use is suggested;
For swelling, regularly apply a cold compress or ice pack to the affected area, antihistamine tablets help as well, steroid tablets may help if treatment mentioned before doesn't help.

If you have symptoms of a wound infection, such as pus or increasing pain, swelling or redness – you may need antibiotics.

Symptoms of a severe reaction, such as:
wheezing or difficulty breathing, a swollen face, mouth or throat, nausea or vomiting, a fast heart rate, dizziness or feeling faint, difficulty swallowing, loss of consciousness should not be neglected, immediately seek medical help to Emergency.

If your symptoms don't start to improve within a few days or are getting worse after the treatment I suggested contact your primary care physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Suzana Zharri,
