What Causes Small Bumps On The Tongue After Taking Cough Medication?

I was recently ill with flu like symptoms and I took over the counter medicine and lots of cough drops. I now have a scar on my tongue that will not go away. It feels rough and almost like a patch of little bumps or scar tissue. Should I go see a doctor?

Excessive intake of cough drops can cause irritation over the tongue causing inflammation of the tongue papillae causing them raised.

However a clinical examination is also a must to rule out what exactly it is..

So my suggestion is to consult an Oral Physician and get checked so that the exact cause of the bumps/ scar can be ruled out..

For now you can do warm saline gargles.
You should avoid sucking the cough drops and also avoid any spicy and hard foods..
If there is pain apply Lidocaine gel over it..
