How Can Chronic Cough Be Treated?

I was diagnosed with the Flu (strain B). I started Tamiflu on 4-13-17 late pm. MD also gave me cough medication of Bromide DM 1 teaspoon twice daily for cough. This cough medication does seem to be working, as I am waking up every 2 hours coughing at night. I am getting no rest. Is there another cough medication (over the counter) that I can get that would be better?
