What Causes Slurred Speech After Consuming Alcohol While On Warfarin And Lisinopril?

Yes, I should start out by letting you know that my husband is fighting lung cancer and has blood clots in each lung and leg. He is on Warafin (5mg) and lisinopren (2.5mg) and he is a drinker. Last night he drank one beer and was drunk. He fell on the floor and could not get up - had to help him to the bed. Today he has been sleeping all day and I just went in to talk to him and he is slurring his words like he is drunk but denies he has had anything to drink. Should I be worried?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Slurred speech is common after consuming excess alcohol. Nothing to worry and it will settle once the effects of alcohol settle.

If the slurring persists for long, we have to think of other causes like stroke or TIA(transient ischemic attack), In that case, an MRI brain is required for further assessment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
