What Causes Sleep Apnea Along With Tinnitus And Hearing Loss?

Thanks. My husband now 74 had his spleen removed when he was 9 due to a car accident. He had a stent placed in his descending aorta (?) "widow maker" due to 90% blockage. He also has sleep apnea which eases when he sleeps on his side. He yawns a lot during the day. I can't get him to return to a c Pap. He has severe tinnitus but has learned to live with it. Hearing loss due to working on engine in the service is about 40%. Blood pressure is pretty good. He sneezes and blows his nose every morning. Other than that he never gets sick. Doe not having a spleen all these years have any connection to his conditions?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Is he obese? Any macroglossia?

If he suffering from sleep apnea need to check his oxygen saturation falling at night, check his heart rate or respiratory rate during sleep, check his sleep patterns by polysomnography etc.

Few people may sleep well with oxygen supplementation, some people may get well with neck elevation and BiPAP application.

Please consult your sleep therapist, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care.
