Hi,
You haven't mentioned clearly here about the starting time of your coughing and
shoulder pain. If your shoulder pain has initiated first then it can be worsen due to
muscle strain by frequent coughing. Again, in the same way, if your coughing has started first, then frequent coughing can lead to muscle strain and this may not settle until your cough resolves.
If u have an infection in your lung, this can also lead a cough as well as inflammation inside your chest wall which manifests as pain. The way to treat your pain is to address the cough.u can take Azithromycin,
Fexofenadine, Montelukast, Tramadol hydrochloride and anti-ulcerants to subside your cough with shoulder pain. You can also undergo some investigations like CBC with circulating
eosinophil count, CXR P/A View, X-ray of
cervical spine, CT Scan or MRI of chest and cervical spine etc., to detect the exact culprit for your present sufferings.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Zubayer Alam, General & Family Physician
