What Causes Shortness Of Breath While Climbing The Stairs?
I am a 42 yo old male, that is overweight. Lately I have been feeling hotter than I think is normal. I also feel winded going up stairs, or after short burst of moderate physical activity. As of yesterday I have also started feeling lightheaded and fatigued. I don t know if I should be worried, or I just need to get more active since I have been very sedimentary for the past few months as my new job requires that I sit for long stretches of time for ten hours a day.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It would be best to rule out heart disease though it may not likely. Serious conditions are excluded before considering less serious causes. Anemia or any condition of the lungs also need to be ruled out as well. It is possible that the shortness of breath, fatigue and lightheaded sensation are due to your decreased activity level but this would be considered only if the above are ruled out by assessment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
