What Causes Shortness Of Breath When On Amlodipine?

I am taking Amlodipine (Norvasc) after being on Atenolol for over 10 years. The atenolol stopped working as my BP was getting high at night. Doctor tried Lisinopril with no effect. The Amlodipine has controlled my BP perfectly ~ 120/78. However, I sometimes get out of breath like when taking a shower or walking up a hill and feel some throbbing. Is this okay?

Hello
As you mentioned that you were taking atenolol for 10 years .
After lisinopril , now you are taking amlodipine i.e. ACE inhibitors and your blood pressure is under control .
Since you are also having shortness of breath particularly when upstairs and also feel throbbing pain.
No doubt the fatigue and edema are side effects of amlodipine ,but we should not forget other things.
As are a chronic hypertensive patient ,so I recommend you please consult a CARDIOLOGIST and get in complete heart check up like EKG , ECHO to rule out any hear involvement .
However sometimes there are so many other possibilities which produces shortness of breath as bronchial asthma, anemia , even knee pain (when upstairs ).
So deal as mentioned above.
Good luck.
