What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Tightness In The Chest?

I have had a thoracotomy 5 years ago because I suffered a few sp pneumothorax prior. I have had VATS as well The problem now is I often get shortness of breath. Tightness in chest. Heavy lung feeling. Clicking Sounds Sharp pains. I get chest x rays done and they turn up normal. I wish to know if this is a sign of weak lungs What would a life expectancy be? I am 44 now

Hello,

Well, you can check on exactly how weak the lungs are with spirometry. this measures your wind/breathing strength and volume of lung capacity. about 1 Liter is necessary.

One can see where the lung function is at and estimate how much is generally lost with aging and come up with an estimate of life expectancy. It is generally foud to be about 120 years.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
