What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Sleepless Night?

I have been experiencing shortness of breath for 24 hours, and had little or no sleep last night. This morning my upper back rib cage area is painful and I can t breathe in any big deep breaths, overall my breathing is very short fast and shallow.... I think it may be an allergy but do not know what to! I am usually susceptible to runny noses and slight shortness of breath when I come into contact with dust, paint odour, sawdust but have not been in contact with any of these in the last 48 hours. I do have a dog.... could my reaction be due to this ?

If you feel that you are having respiratory distress of any sort due to either an asthma attack or similar due to unknown allergies then, you should seek out an Urgent Care center for more answers. If you have a nebulizer handy you may try using that with distilled water as your source of mist or steam (either warm or cool mist should be fine).
