What Causes Short Term Memory Loss While Suffering From Stroke?

my sister had a stroke last year that created two blood clots last year and it was due to high blood pressure she has been running high the last 2 days I just took it 3 times the first was 160/104 second 162/110 and the then 150/98 . she has not had a headache and i am not sure how to get it lower and I am scared that she could go through what she did last year. Since the stroke last year she still struggles with short term memory loss and is on a few medications for the High BP . Is there any thing I can do to bring it down ?

It is common to have short term memory loss in stroke patients due to the damage of brain tissues or area which are responsible for storing memory in brain. But this is some time treatable if there is no major damage in brain tissue. And you should take medication advice from your neuro physician for this to reduce inflammation and on going damage post stroke.
Now in your explanation you have inform that her blood pressure is remaining high but she does not have headache. It is possible that with high blood pressure also patient will not have any symptoms of high blood pressure until and unless it becomes too high like more then 200 for higher (systolic) reading.
But here since she already had one stroke attack there are high chances of second attack if her blood pressure is keeping high. I suggest to visit a doctor let him check the blood pressure and then take suggestion on change in medication. You can also control and reduce on salt(sodium) intake. Later ask your patient to do regular walking or cycling for 20-30 minutes daily. And keep checking blood pressure daily morning.

I have given you here general guideline since I have not examine your patient. But i am sure this will be helpful when you follow step by step process.

Take care
