What Causes Sharp Pain In The Shoulder?

I have a needle-like sharp pain on the top of my left shoulder that comes and goes. It seems to feel like a needle was inserted where I have a scab like place on my shoulder.mit used to be on my right shoulder,Myron a different rough spot but after months of putting alcohol on the spot it went away...or rather to my left shoulder. The pain is worse at night and the spot also itches when it hurts. Like a burning pain but very centralized.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I don't think the pain is related to the spot you refer to. The spot is probably folliculitis or infection or inflammation of the hair follicles.
The pain in shoulders is possible muscle pain. You can use anti-inflammatory drugs such as advil or acetaminophen for pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
