What Causes Sharp Pain In The Chest While Having Cystic Fibrosis?

I have random sharp pain spikes in my chest. I have had ekg s done including analysis while running on a treadmill. So far my regular physician has found nothing. The pain comes in the center of my chest sometimes at an almost crippling strength. Conducting my own research, it appears to be unrelated to my heart based on the fact that it is affected by a change in body position. Not to get you too wrapped around this piece of information as I believe it to be unrelated, but I do have cystic fibrosis. So far in life I have only felt the effects of this disease in that I have no vas deferins.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Because you have chest pains and you are diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, it is important to also check your lungs and make sure the chest pains are not related to lungs being affected by cystic fibrosis. You will need a chest x-ray and a few other tests to check the lung function.
If the tests come out normal then a muscular pain can be the cause as the pain is affected by movement. In this case, paracetamol and ibuprofen can be taken to help with the pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
