What Causes Sharp Pain In The Back And Scalp?

Starting Saturday around noon to 1 p.m., I started noticing that when I shook my head or ran my fingers through my hair, I had pretty intense sharp pain in the back, top right portion of my scalp (I guess around the crown and to the right). It hurt later that evening when I went to bed so I had to sleep on my left side. The following Sunday morning, it was still present the entire day. Today (Monday) at work, it was there but not as intense as it was prior but around 3:30 this evening, I noticed it again very intensely. I can t shake my head, raise my eyebrows or touch my hair to comb it without a stabbing pain as if I m pushing a push pin into it. I had a concussion approx 14 years ago from abuse and then about a month ago, I fell onto a steam cleaner handle injuring underneath my right eye, but no eye damage so I don t know if this is a really delayed result of that or what but it hurts. Ibuprofen 800 mg seems to help it fade out but it is still very much present.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As first-line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.
If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
