General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

There can be various reasons for the sharp pain in navel as:
- Acute intestine colic from twisting or spasm
- Bacterial or viral infection of the gut
- Early stage of developing appendicitis
- Referred pain of follicle rupture from ovary
- Small bowel dysfunction
- Pathology of umbilicus as inflammation, hernia, granuloma etc

If you have any radiology report is available with you, I can discuss further precisely for this issue in greater clinical details please. For primary relief, you can get tablet of dicyclomine or drotaverine from your primary care.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
