What Causes Sharp Chest Pain While Coughing?

For most of the day, I ve felt like I needed to pee. When I sit on the toilet, I get an instant prickly feeling from sternum up to the top of my shoulders.... kind of like the sting in your chest if you coughed too hard and were deprived of breath. It doesn t last long. I have no other symptoms like pain in the chest, droopy face or arm pain. It s mostly in the upper back of my chest. Also, I don t really need to pee. Any ideas? I take metoprolol, losartan and coumadin for a MVS replacement 7/12.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be due to conditions like costochondritis. As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
