What Causes Severe Swelling In Leg During Pregnancy?

My wife had a vein along the length of her interior gastrocnemius to become deeply sunken in today appearing as if it were collapsed. From upper soleus down her leg is painfully sensitive to the touch and from ankle to toes shows signs of edema. However, she is 34 weeks pregnant and has been on her feet a good bit. Anyway only one leg is affected. Possible dvt? Please advise.

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. Oedema on legs are common in pregnancy. However she should check for preeclampsia once. Chance of dvt are rare but it can not be ignored. You should consult your gynecologist first then if needed go for investigation.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
