What Causes Severe Shoulder Pain After Taking Levaquin?

It has been 2.5 months since I finished taking Levaquin. Was hospitalized for sepsis from severe pyelonephritis for 8 days the last week of November 2015. Not sure what IV antibiotics received. About 1-2 weeks after finishing the Levaquin I began having severe pain in my shoulders very similar to the pain associated with a torn rotator cuff that was repaired 5 yrs. ago. Obviously, I had not read any information about side effects, when to call MD, etc.. I have Multiple Sclerosis, CHF, long term Coumadin therapy for pulmonary emboli, hypertension, hypothyroidism, depression, other conditions are associated with my MS. What I would like to know is, can my shoulders be fixed? Will the increased fatigue go away and when? Will the weakness in my legs get any better and when?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is unlikely related to levaquin. Possible neuromuscular conditions must be ruled out. Consult an orthopedic and plan for an MRI scan to make a diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
