What Causes Severe Rashes On The Arms And Neck After Taking Ibuprofen?
Hi, I was taking muscle relaxants - ibuprofin with muscle relaxants because of severe pain in my whole body particularly in my knees and all of my joints. About 2 weeks or so after taking Ibuprofin with muscle relaxants, I broke out in severe hives on both arms neck and ears. I saw my doctor and he prescribed Hydroval. Hydroval works but once it wares off the itch starts again.....Its very painful also...Thanks for your advice...
Hives while using certain drugs can be due to drug allergy. In your case, it may be due to an allergic reaction to ibuprofen or the myorelaxant. I would advise you to stop using them as this is the first treatment for an allergic reaction, to avoid the trigger. You will also need to talk to your doctor to substitute these drugs with pain killers of a different family to help with the pain.
I hope this answers your query and is helpful to you. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
