What Causes Severe Pain Under The Ribcage?

I am getting a pain under my left rib cage that feels like there is something there that was not there before. It is most severe after I eat but I also get it when I have not eaten anything. I also get a pain in my back in the same area that the pain is in the front. It feels like bloating mixed with something there. I thought that it was a hiatal hernia but its been ruled out. Its becoming more frequent. Any idea what this could be?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Dear patient
Considering your case it seems gastroesophageal reflux disease in short GERD. In this condition there is weakness of sphincter at lower esophagus end which prevents reflux of food content. So due to weakness of sphincter there is reflux of gastric contents into food pipe and causes ulcer there. For confirming diagnosis you require upper GI endoscopy which is done by gastroenterology specialist. So visit such doctor nearby you and get it done. It also guides in proper treatment. All the best.
