What Causes Severe Pain In The Lower Back?

My daughter age 14. Very painful gnawing and throbbing in right middle to lower back. Been going on for a week. Comes and goes. Feels it s getting worse. I will call the doctor in the morning. Is she too young for Gall bladder? My pain was in my middle stomach area when I had gallstones.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I would like to inform this: about 40% of pediatric gallstone is found in children between 2 years to 14 years.
I would suggest: Whole Abdomen USG.
I may give only USG of that part but I would like not to take any risk and suggest you have the whole abdomen ultrasound. Moreover, ultrasound has no radiation hazard, unlike CT or X-Ray.

I would also suggest:
1. Liver Function Test
2. Complete Blood Count
3. Serum Amylase

Do not worry. Please do the tests without any delay.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dipan Samanta, General & Family Physician
