Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter age 14. Very painful gnawing and throbbing in right middle to lower back. Been going on for a week. Comes and goes. Feels it s getting worse. I will call the doctor in the morning. Is she too young for Gall bladder? My pain was in my middle stomach area when I had gallstones.
I would like to inform this: about 40% of pediatric gallstone is found in children between 2 years to 14 years. I would suggest: Whole Abdomen USG. I may give only USG of that part but I would like not to take any risk and suggest you have the whole abdomen ultrasound. Moreover, ultrasound has no radiation hazard, unlike CT or X-Ray.
I would also suggest: 1. Liver Function Test 2. Complete Blood Count 3. Serum Amylase
Do not worry. Please do the tests without any delay.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dipan Samanta, General & Family Physician
