What Causes Severe Pain In The Left Side Of The Abdomen?

I ended up in the ER last night with severe left sided abdominal pain - has been going on for some time - lab and CT Scan normal. Ovaries, uterus, gall bladder - all gone. Recent colonoscopy normal. Had surgery 2 months to remove HUGE Epiploic appendagitis. Is a gastroenterologist the next step? How would a gastroenterologist go about trying to figure out what this horrid pain is? Thank you

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my surgical experience, the most common cause of severe pain left side of the abdomen after multiple surgeries are post-operative adhesions (which may not reflect many times on CT scan plates ).

I would like you to consult with an expert laparoscopic specialist, who may decide to perform diagnostic laparoscopy to look into the actual matter causing the symptoms of agony.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
