What Causes Severe Pain In The Left Arm?

For the past month or so, I haven t been able to lift my left arm up past about shoulder height without extreme pain in that shoulder. Absolutely fine to use as long as I don t raise my arm up. Do not remember doing anything to cause this. Please advise.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

This may be due to the muscles and tendons that go through the shoulder and we call it rotator cuff syndrome.

You can benefit a lot from a combination of NSAIDs with physiotherapy so you can have a visit with a physiotherapist and get exercises to help increase the range of movement in the shoulder.

If this does not help enough sometimes a steroid injection in the shoulder joint can help as well.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
