Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m having a lot of pain behind my knee. it feels like the edge of the chair is pressing on it. It just started this evening for no reason. It was fine all day. I have fallen on this knee several times, but it hasn t hurt. I m worried this could be a blood clot forming. Is that possible? What should I look for if that s the issue? When should I go to the ER? Thanks!
It looks like you have hurt the cartilage under the patella. Wear a knee cap, reduce body weight, wear shoes that are comfortable. Do not stress your knees unnecessarily. Get physically examined & evaluated.
Get investigations (X-ray, Arthroscopic examination)done. Your treatment (Physical therapy, Surgery) will depend on the degree of pathology detected. For relieve of pain you can take Acetaminophen (tylenol).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K,
General & Family Physician
